Our Mission

We are dedicated to providing a year-round source of locally produced food to Juneau, Alaska.

Our community is geographically isolated which limits access to fresh produce. Shipping lanes are the relied upon source for fruits and vegetables that often spoil before being consumed. Not only can this be financially and emotionally frustrating, the lack of quality in food can lead to long term health risks.

As locals we understand the need for a locally based reliable food source. As farmers we know how to grow. As a community we can begin to feed ourselves.

Our Farm

Our Farm

The indoor vertical farm facility is visible to the public during business hours through our partition window. Come see the variety of produce grown in-house that are harvested once a week for in-house sales.

Everything grown indoors uses an active living soil and compost tea. No crops are sprayed with harmful chemicals or pesticides, providing a safer and healthier product for everyone.

In house we currently produce microgreens, one of the products available in the storefront. Microgreens are sprouts that have been allowed to root into substrate (soil) and develop leaves. They are harvested while still very small and consumed quickly. These little greens pack more flavor than most people are ready for to begin with, but always keep them coming back for more. That flavor translates to more nutrients- up to 100 times more than the mature version of the same plant! This is one of the best way to get some healthy, nutritious food without relying on shipping.

Come by and ask for a sample today!

About Us

About Us

20180419_175906.jpg

Panhandle Produce was founded in 2013 when born and raised locals Kylie and Eli Wray began growing peas and cucumbers in their apartment. Using rented greenhouse space, they began growing their passion into a hobby farm that supplied fresh, high quality produce to multiple farmers markets around the Juneau area.

They opened the local foods market in Feburary 2018 to supply a year round source of high quality, nutritious foods and to serve as a shared venue for other farmers and local food based businesses in the region.

Market selection varies based on seasonal availability; to everything, a season! This lack of winter availability is supplemented by the in-house grown produce.

Check in frequently for more updates.
